BMX Bandit

Q is growing up so fast.  Yesterday, we took Q to the bike shop to buy him his first big boy bike, with training wheels.  Luckily, the only one they had at the store that would fit him was blue.  Which was just what Q wanted.  He had so much fun riding it last night and by the end of the night, he was able to pedal standing up, just like daddy does....

A Lesson in Forgiveness

I took Quentin to a 2 week long swim class at the beginning of summer.  The first week went well.  He was shy at first, but he built up more confidence every day.  Friday of the first week, B took Q to class.  On that day, there was a substitute teacher that was too overwhelming for Q and it was downhill from there.  He didn't enjoy the second week of class and he wouldn't swim with B anymore.  I didn't realize he was still holding his grudge until a couple of weeks ago when we went swimming.  When we got to the pool, he told me,  "Oooh mama, this is going to be awful..."  He just wanted to stay on the first step and wouldn't let B  hold him.  We took him swimming again last week and had a conversation about forgiveness.  We told him it was time to let go of his grudge and forgive daddy.  It took a little bit, but he finally gave B a chance.  They had a great time swimming together!!

Revenge

When I was young, I was a terrible eater.  My mother could never get me sit and eat and I was so picky.  I only wanted to eat ground beef and rice and my mother always had to feed me.  Quentin is pretty much the same, my mother's revenge on me.  

When I was growing up, I always made my brother make me houses, forts and boats.  Quentin is also my brother's revenge on me.  I have to make him a tree house every night when we watch a little tv before bed.  And because he is OCD, the tree house always has to be perfect.  Straight, symmetrical and no holes between any of the pillows....

Still Shy.....

Quentin is still very shy.  When Quentin is around people he doesn't know very well, he's quiet, timid and doesn't like to stand too close.  But once he's comfortable, he's chatty, cuddly and affectionate.  When he's in his own element with close friends and family, he is a ham.  He sings, dances, plays the guitar and drums and poses for photos.....

4th of July

For the 4th, we bbq'd over at a friends' house.  There was a bounce house, bubbles, sprinklers to run through, a kid pool and good food and great friends to spend the day with.  Quentin had so much fun and got to stay up for the fireworks!!

This is a perfect spot...

This weekend we took Quentin to the Arboretum.  We hung out by the pond, fed the fish and the ducks and watched a crane fish for his lunch.  We had so much fun!!  Quentin told me, "Mommy, I really like it here.  This is a perfect spot..."  The first three photos were taken by Q.
